□ 보고서는 작년 신규 감염자 수가 130만 명 정도였으며, 63만 명이 에이즈와 관련된 질병으로 사망한 것으로 집계되었다고 밝힘
- 사망자 수는 2004년의 210만 명 보다는 크게 줄어든 것이지만, 2025년까지 달성하기로 한 목표치인 25만 명 이하보다는 여전히 두 배 이상 많은 수준이라고 지적함
□ 또한 UNAIDS는 중동·북아프리카와 동유럽·중앙아시아, 중남미 등 3개 지역에서는 신규 감염이 증가하는 추세라고 경고함
- 아프리카 일부 지역에서 청소년과 젊은 여성의 HIV 감염이 유난히 많다는 점을 지적하면서 성불평등이 여성과 소녀들의 위험을 악화시키고 있다고도 분석함
