Critical security concerns unsettling the present international political order are two wars, one in Gaza, in the Middle East, and the other in Ukraine. The steady stream of casualties and continuous demolition of social infrastructure have deepened combat fatigue or a sense of exhaustion from war.

Although attention is currently on a possible future intervention by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) bloc, the nature of the Gaza war is distinct from the Ukrainian war. The latter is a confrontation between two states, Ukraine and Russia, over their national territories and sovereignty, while the former involves Israel, a state, and Hamas, a non-state actor.

With the escalating humanitarian crisis, the international community stepped in to negotiate a ceasefire, which temporarily paused the war after its first phase took effect on October 10, 2025, followed by the release of hostages on October 13. Nevertheless, some raised concerns about the ongoing nature of this ceasefire. U.S. President Donald Trump announced his commitment to advancing the Middle East’s three pillars of security, politics, and economy.

In this context, this article examines the shifts in regional dynamics and ramifications for international politics in the Gaza war prompted by Israel’s retribution to the October 2023 Hamas attack and analyzes the potential for geopolitical upheaval originating from the Middle East by forecasting the political landscape after the initial phase of the truce.
